The Mystery of the Mask

Journal Entry: Wed Nov 18, 2009, 4:13 PM
An all too short meeting with a fellow deviant, this time from Sydney, has resulted in a record month for our impromptu devmeets. *TheHarlequinsMask called in for a few hours. Far from being just another photographer of the nude, Warren has the rare quality of having both sides of the brain active at all times. Highly technical, and yet with an obvious passion for the arts, he attempts to 'mask' his intelligence with his gentle inquiring nature. Check out his gallery, and if you have the opportunity to meet with him, or be a part of his art, jump at it!
It is really good to know that as I am winding down my modelling shoots, there is someone out there that has ethics, passion and reliability to match his art.

I know there have been others that we have met up with, but we have at least had the opportunity of meeting up with these Deviants over the last month, as well as an odd assortment of models, photographers and other blow-ins that need to be converted to the DA way.

Fitting all this in, together with looking after me after surgery has been the amazingly unrelenting... :iconintergrativeone:
Thank you Gayle!

Flatjacks Virus

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 8, 2009, 4:24 AM
Those confetti to coin size pieces of super thin plastic known as FlatJacks have been apparently been creeping into our lives and are set to change more than the original advertising tokens that they were designed for. A few games that use them, probably like the old Tazos that I remember my kids playing, and then, I expected they would fade as fads do.

About this time, thin film plastic batteries started to creep in to domestic use - in simple things like greeting cards etc...

The union of thin film batteries to FlatJacks had to happen, so now we have these tiny plastic pieces, glowing, talking and even moving.

Theses have invaded the whole of the ad industry, and of course, the spammers have got hold of them. Apart from the glowing and flashing disc with tiny messages on them, the moving ones can slide across tables, and because they are so sharp, they can even slide in under your skin, and run around glowing and flashing their messages being recharged by the electrical impulses under the skin. These have become the new tattoos and piercings all in one. With a tiny wristwatch style controller, they can be made to glow and pulse to the beat of music, assemble in color patterns and spell out messages under the skin.

I know they have a new medical application, because I woke from anesthetic with my body completely filled with them, running around flashing the required time and dosage of my pain medication.

The wonders of modern science!

Offline for a few days

Journal Entry: Wed Nov 4, 2009, 12:29 AM
Walking around with my legs together has given me a twinkletoes appearance over the last month or so, while waiting for the system to admit me to hospital.

Inguinal Hernias are less fun than a base ball to the mens room.

Suffice to say that as my surgery approaches and my strength diminishes, I am actually looking forward to going under the knife. The Doc has told me he rarely slips, but I may come back as half the man I used to be... oh well - who cares...

I may be a little more active a few days after surgery, but with my luck, that wonderful old friend Golden Staph (Hospital Staph or MRSA) will come and gloat on my open wound.

While I laugh in zee face of dangeur - I ache too much to laugh and sneezing, coughing, walking and lifting a glass of medicinal scotch is getting too hard - so roll me in and slice and dice...

Catch you all with a different outlook on life real soon!

Beau

A DD from 2006 !

Journal Entry: Thu Oct 1, 2009, 9:11 PM
Who'da thunk it?

After almost 3 years hiding in the Dept of Lost Causes, deep in the grimy bowels of my gallery - the somewhat sensitive socio-religious statement "The Person in Charge" has finally emerged for the world to see!!! Thanks to ^wynnesome for cleaning out the cobwebs and re-arranging my gallery!

Back when models were clamoring at my door, I had the opportunity to indulge myself with some social statements... currently, uni exams are holding them back - or I just got a little to choosy... hmmmm.

The Person in Charge stands alone, but also echoes a theme that was running through my head (at the time at least) - Where does the power lie - Why do men think they are the boss of it all?
Who the hell are they trying to kid, anyway?

You be the judge.....

**** UPDATE ****
I have opened this image for public download - I would love to think that it is being postered around the world.

Please do not use this image commercially without my written authority - but feel fre to print a copy for your wall/fridge etc....

Please note me if you are downloading...
Beau

A positive in the negative?

Journal Entry: Thu Sep 24, 2009, 8:40 PM
After having read the latest journals of a fellow photographer - and understanding the emotional drain that occurs with being inspired, the greater emotional drain that comes with Not being inspired and the disastrous effects of being let down and have the feeling of self expression sour in ones mouth; I find myself at a crossroads also.

For the last 5 years I have been travelling, shooting and gathering images at a phenomenal rate. I have been attempting to stockpile for my 'retirement' so that I have images to edit, post and (God forbid) sell, well beyond my future shooting capacity.

The quest has always been for a muse - not as a lover (my hands are full) but as the model that is able to simply 'get it' and want to create - what I want to create.

A disappointing quest, I must say. The perfect model walks in the door, wanting to be part of everlasting art, loves my work and settles down for a shoot - but before we can complete a true series - there is the call of the boyfriend, the requirement to be famous, the next semester of college or whatever.
Another half finished concept sits around for a year before she pokes her head in the door again - and wants to start all over. Ahh youth can be so fickle.

It is coming to a close.

I will not be shooting ' professionally' for much longer now... my body is melting and the camera is getting too heavy to hold. I considered a 'steadi-cam device of some sort to hold the camera for me, but that's probably too weird - even for me. (Well - nothing's too weird - but way too expensive!)

I do have a problem with falling down too - thats always a bit disconcerting, especially as I love to work on cliff faces.

So the end of this year will probably see the last of my model shoots - I have a few special friends that I will always attempt to lift a camera for, but by and large - the carnival is probably over.

Even my landscapes have suffered, as getting more than 30ft from the car with a camera is doubtful, so most of my shots of late have been taken from the lazy vantage point of the car window.

Ahh - just use a tripod you will say.... Hmmm.. and who will carry that? I ask...

So - time for me to hone my editing skills - and take the back seat for the next great adventure. You may have seen that I have been quiet on here lately - well, it has taken some time to try to grasp reality. I'm getting there.

Thank you to all those that have been watching and waiting for the next exciting installment in my Galleries, but I think you will be mainly seeing Re-edits from here on in. I got so close to publishing the book I had always wanted to, and maybe it will happen... but I think it's time to accept the inevitable.

It's the concept of the muse that keeps us inspired - because the muse never arrives.

I am a childhood friend of Gayle's. We reconnected on FB. I like what I have seen of your work, but most of your gallery is filtered as mature content. I am mature, and quite content. How can I view? -duncan

Sharing

dA is a place for collaboration.
Christmas is a time for sharing.

Let's get this coming year right, and share.

Think about sharing by:

-Opening your home to a person that can't afford that hotel night...

-Bringing in the neighbors toters while they are away...

-Giving some un-needed gifts to charity - or someone that really needs them.

-Reclaim the streets - walk with friends -maybe take someone elses dog for a walk, and go that extra block toward the wrong side of town.

It's the simple stuff that takes the pain away and makes others want to give back.

Try it... it works.
