Complaining as I do...

Journal Entry: Sun Mar 8, 2009, 4:55 PM
After giving grief to the US government for the past 12 months, and complaining bitterly about the system, they gave actually gotten off their collective butts and issued me a green card. So... complain all you like, I'm part of the furniture. A Permanent Resident - it's up to me if I want to become a citizen, but they can't kick me out, even if they wanted to. They slipped - they think that this subversive individual fits in well enough to be a valuable part of their culture.... Well I'll show them!!!

I have been probed as all aliens that fall into the hands of the authorities at area 51 have been for decades. I have been injected with solutions that will counteract all the STDs that gather on toilet seats, and had my irises radiated with gamma rays, my fingerprints taken, my tax records and police records checked for the past .... 20 years, and they still let me in... hahahaha - that'll teach 'em!

Now that I'm here... I'm gone... off to Europe, where I was accepted 20 years ago... Now it all gets easier - I can breeze in and out without asking permission, standing in a queue, or feeling like a furriner everywhere.

Mind you, it's been so long since I've been to or lived in Australia - I'm not sure what to expect - DAMN... I hope I haven't picked up a Southern Accent - that would really freak me out.

If you want to come and live in the States - I've found the back door - shhhhh - I can get you in!!!

Congratulations... it is about time! We welcome you and all of your rants and raves. It is always good to hear other points of views. I hope you don't forget us here in the states. I hope you will be back in the near future! I hope you guys have a fantastic trip. You and I both know how precious life is and how we should experience everything that we can in this life. You never know what tomorrow will bring.
I wish you and Gayle love, happiness and LOTS of fun!
Take care my dear friends!
I will be watching for some more rants and raves on the trip of a lifetime!

Semi-congrats?

Actually, that's really cool.

The cool bit is winning the battle, the fact is - it couldn't be denied. So now that I am leaving, I'm allowed to earn money in the US! Go figger!

Still - I can walk in and out as often as I want, and that's what I was really chasing. Our own schedule, not someone else's.
Thanks, I'll take the semi and the full congrats!

We can now come and go as we please - which will mean longer away from the US probably, knowing we can come back whenever, stay for as long as we like and even earn money without being fearful the INS are watching for me to slip up.

One battle done, now to get Gayle's Australian Green Card.....
woo hoo!!!

Who needs a southern accent when you have a southern belle?
:iconchrisstjames:
Congratulations !!! I know how difficult it is...
:iconmumacas:
congrats... I am glad it worked... now hurry up and get your collective butts back here - there is just a little water issue u need to deal with...
:iconseattleslough:
Here's hoping that you do "show us!" We need all the help we can get.

Congratuations, and welcome aboard this insane ship that they call America (but which we who spend most of our lives as expats call "The States").

Thanks for the welcome!
I have been aboard as a visitor, a stowaway, a foreigner many times and most have welcomed me warmly, (but sometimes with a shotgun or a middle finger pointing toward the birds in the sky.)

Now it's my place... I might just be a tenant and not an owner, but it's my place - so I get to welcome others to the States.

It wont stop my rants - I'm critical of any government that can grab that much tax, and lose it.

Gulp - I was trying to forget... Can't we just wave a wand, or a cheque book or something?
Dammit!

I am a childhood friend of Gayle's. We reconnected on FB. I like what I have seen of your work, but most of your gallery is filtered as mature content. I am mature, and quite content. How can I view? -duncan

Sharing

dA is a place for collaboration.
Christmas is a time for sharing.

Let's get this coming year right, and share.

Think about sharing by:

-Opening your home to a person that can't afford that hotel night...

-Bringing in the neighbors toters while they are away...

-Giving some un-needed gifts to charity - or someone that really needs them.

-Reclaim the streets - walk with friends -maybe take someone elses dog for a walk, and go that extra block toward the wrong side of town.

It's the simple stuff that takes the pain away and makes others want to give back.

Try it... it works.
